On Friday, 13 March 2026, the office of the World Bank in Tashkent hosted a focus group meeting with representatives of the private technology sector as part of the ongoing work on developing strategic approaches to innovation and the application of artificial intelligence in the education system of Uzbekistan.
The discussion brought together developers, technology companies, international experts, and representatives of the project team working on the strategy. The aim of the meeting was to collect practical insights from the private sector on the challenges and opportunities related to the introduction of modern technologies in education and innovation ecosystems.
O-ZBEGIN LLC, a company specializing in AI solutions, data analytics, digital technologies, and modern online education platforms, participated in the discussion and shared its experience in developing digital learning tools and technology-driven solutions.
Participants highlighted several key challenges and priorities. Among them were the need to reduce the growing gap between the education system and the practical skills required in the modern economy, develop supportive regulatory initiatives for innovation, and create stronger mechanisms to encourage youth participation in startups and technology entrepreneurship.
Special attention was also given to the importance of supporting young innovators from an early age, including the development of creativity, technological thinking, and practical skills already at the school level. Participants emphasized that improving the professional capacity of all stakeholders — from public institutions to private sector actors — is essential for building a sustainable innovation ecosystem.
Experts also noted that the transformation of education remains one of the most important foundations for long-term economic development. Strengthening the link between education, technology, and practical application of knowledge is critical for enabling the creation of modern products, services, and competitive digital industries.
International initiatives supported by organizations such as the UNICEF and the World Bank aim to explore how artificial intelligence and digital technologies can improve learning outcomes, enhance accessibility, and support the development of future skills needed for the digital economy.
